Current Writing Projects
• A gothic horror novel set on a farm on the ephemeral Tulare Lake and in a New England natural history museum
• A memoir on a century of activism and agriculture in my family–sugarcane revolts, small farmer cooperatives, resistance to vigilantes, and protecting worker rights. Their struggle for land justice and the right to grow healthy food continues today.

Kansha History Project
Prior to WWII, Japanese American farmers produced 40% of California’s agricultural wealth on less than 1% of the state’s farmland. Like my grandmother and mother in this photo, most of the incarcerees were farmers, children of farmers, farmworkers, or people who provided services to farming communities. A better understanding of Nikkei farm history will help us repair our social fabric and foodways. Presentations on Nikkei farming are year-round. We will search and print out family records for survivors and descendants.
